Valentine’s Day Sweethearts Will Not Be Sold This Year

If you were planning on giving out those little candy conversation hearts this Valentine’s Day, think again.

The chalky candies with messages like “Be Mine,” “Love” and “Call Me” aren’t being released in 2019.

The brand Sweethearts will be missing from store shelves, but they are expected to make a return in 2020.

Spangler Candy Company in Ohio purchased Necco Wafers and Sweethearts in 2018 after Necco went out of business and closed its factory. It had manufactured Sweethearts for more than 130 years.

According to CandyStore.com, the hearts were the most popular candy sold in 2018, with eight billion made annually.
