Service Dog Delivers EIGHT Puppies At Tampa Airport

One woman ended up with some unexpected traveling companions on Friday at Tampa International Airport in Florida.

USA Today reports that Diane Van Atter's service dog Ellie gave birth to eight puppies while waiting for their flight to Philadelphia.

Van Atter's stepmother Karen James told the Tampa Bay Times that they knew the yellow lab was pregnant but thought she wouldn't give birth until after their trip.

"I've never seen anything like this in an airport, or otherwise," said an airport spokeswoman.

Tampa Fire Rescue paramedics at the airport helped deliver the puppies--seven males and one female. Some of the pups were named after the medics.
