Woman Battling Breast Cancer Dies Hours After Hospital Wedding

A Connecticut couple stayed true to the marriage vows of supporting each other in sickness and in health before they ever said: "I do."

35-year-old David Mosher and 31-year-old Heather Lindsay got to say those words to each other just hours before Lindsay died after a one-year battle with breast cancer.

David said, “It was more like a funeral than a wedding to be honest. It was the hardest hour of my life.” He’d planned to propose to Lindsay on Dec 23, 2016 after dating more than two years. But that morning, a doctor diagnosed Lindsay with an aggressive form of breast cancer that had already spread to her lymph nodes.

David said, “I left the plans as they were. I proposed to her. We had the toughest year of our life. She struggled with her cancer through the traditional chemotherapy.” He said that they thought the cancer was under control until doctors told them in September that it had spread to her brain and lungs.

He said, “We realized the wedding was something that needed to happen because she probably wasn’t going to make it.” They exchanged vows in the hospital’s chapel, with Lindsay dressed in her wedding dress and lying in her hospital bed.

Eighteen hours later, Lindsay died.
